I'm not a professional art critic and I'm not good at drawing at all, but you requested critiques, so... there.
2) I'm trying to add tears. It'll probably look better once I've fixed the stylistic stuff, but it's useful to hear that it's not reading well.
I look forward to the finished version; it already looks pretty good! Way better than anything I could do, haha!
